Fast-changing Bushwick is at the center of New York City’s shifting demographics and politics. The spirit and effort of longtime residents who remember prior times of blight imbue the neighborhood with the sense that things have gotten better. But a search underneath the headlines reveals that some old challenges persist even as new ones appear.
